Piribebuy
I have to admit that Piribebuy is among the cities I really love. Not long ago was the first time I even went there, it is actually pretty close to Asuncion, just passing Caacupe.
My friend just had to develop the motor of his new car (not that new btw) but the motor was new and since he knew I was around town he invited me and some other friends to a day trip to Piribebuy.
We left Asuncion after noon, the day was incredible beautiful, and very very cold, but sunny, we stopped on a gas station and went direction Piribebuy.
No one in the car was pretty sure how to arrive, but passing Caacupe it is very well signed s
o it was not difficult to find the right turn that lead us to our destination.
The town was amazing, like frozen in time, a very few people walking on the streets and I assume it was first because it was Sunday and not much to do around there, and second because that particular day it was very chilli, I still remember it, not very usual for a Paraguayan winter.
The houses were pretty much colonial and some were painted on aqua green colors, and it looked like a classic Paraguayan city, there is a big park with a church and the municipal house, houses surrounding that typical format.
We stopped at a colonial looking restaurant, neat and pintoreque place, we had our “Merienda“ (afternoon snack) which was coffee and h
ot chocolate and great Paraguayan sweets like alfajores, palmeritas, pasta frolas, and other kind of sweets I don’t recall well.
We started taking photos inside that awesome place, since my friend is a professional photographer he took his camera and we had the best time!
We drove around and we stopped to take more pictures and just enjoy the moment that now I realize that the most simple things are the most intense and for me the most important.
Even now sometimes my mind still wonders what people of Piribebuy do on a chilli Sunday like that?, I’ll probably never know that for sure…the only thing I know is that I had the greatest time enjoying to be there some Sunday of some month of some chilli Paraguayan winter day.
