Yo el Supremo

I got “Yo El Supremo” by Augusto Roa Bastos, the most famouse Paraguayan writer and this is one of his best books…Thanks to my friend Javier (Thank you Javi!! for sending it)…I will certainly enjoy Roa Bastos during my trip and comment on it very soon, as promised!

Meantime try to get a book yourself I’m sure you will not regret it.

Is such a cool book, but a really difficult one. Is the most complex one wrote by Roa Bastos, but the best on my opinion.

If you want to try something easier and lighter, try “Cuentos Completos” (which I am currently reading) or “Hijo de Hombre”.

I believe none can give an idea of Paraguay as Roa Bastos does.

    Enjoy it.

    Hola Andres
Yes, you are right, its not easy, but I will take my chances, I already read Hijo de Hombre and El Trueno entre las hojas. His writing skills amazes me and I can’t wait to start the book!!
I will comment on it pretty soon, thanks for commenting Andres! It is always a pleasure to hear from you.

Last year i read ” Hijo de Hombre “, it was a very interesting book .. but very difficult to deal … you have to be 24/7 with the dictionary… but is a very very good book..from a very good writer

I read Hijo de Hombre in high school but it was much easier than Yo el Supremo…
It is an amazing novel and so much to learn…I just wonder if the really talked that way, if it was normal for the time to use that type of language or was it Roa Bastos way to describe the Dictator? What do you think?
