Good trip advices to Paraguay and Brazil.
Since I had to come back earlier I had to change my original trip schedule and my trip back to the US was a chaos.
1st advice: If you can avoid to come or go to Paraguay via Sao Paulo AVOID it, flights are not on schedule, you will be lucky if you actually have a reservation even though you have your tickets with you and you think you are sure you have reservations, that might not be the case in Sao Paulo, and even worse after the recent accident in Congonhas, where 200 people were killed, and it if you are American Citizen it’s even worse, if it happens to lose a flight you will have to sleep at the airport unless you have a visa to enter the US and if you are traveling with children they need a travel authorization legalized by the Brazilian consulate in the US if both parents are not traveling together with the child.
2nd advice: Go thru Buenos Aires, it’s better organized, flights are on schedule or at least more on schedule, less traffic and no need of visa for American citizen.
I had to wait 12 hours in Sao Paulo to catch my plane to Houston…I was so pissed off with that thought, a regular trip from Seattle to Asuncion is of around 24 hours that is loooong enough plus 12 hours, imagine how exhausting it was.
3rd advice and best advice: If you have a long waiting time at the airport do what I did, buy the Admirals VIP Room 1 day pass, that saved me, we had complementary food and snacks, coffee, tea, the best wines and drinks, all kind of beverages, Internet, wireless, great and comfortable chairs, a nice bar, with light snacks, clean and private restrooms, flat screen televisions, etc…, I so thankful that I came up with that idea, it made the whole trip way more enjoyable. Downstairs the VIP room it’s a duty free where you can spend some time shopping while waiting for your connection.
If you have an American Express or Dinners credit card ask them your options I know there are plenty of Vip rooms there. I even found a rest and shower place that is like a little hotel where you can sleep and take a shower and Its not expensive, for 2 people from 5 to 8 hours is just 75$ and you actually can sleep there.
