Things from Paraguay
It is interesting how my friends got curious about the stuff I bought from Paraguay, the first thing they asked me was: What did you buy in Paraguay? Besides 2 or 3 ceramic plates (from Aregua), 2 mythological wood carved statues of Pombero and Yasy Yatere and 3 pieces of art from a famous Paraguayan Artist called Migliorisi, I bought absolutely nothing, not even a T shirt!
And the best thing I noticed was that I was absolutely happy of not buying anything, I didn’t need things there, didn’t have the urge, I wasn’t even thinking about buying stuff, I was so happy without anything, so free, life is much lighter with less stuff and more experiences and emotions.
Since I’m back I feel the same way, now it even bothers me to buy stuff, and I don’t even want to look at things that I don’t need, there is no satisfaction about owning…I don’t crave things, I guess its just a phase.
A nice thing I’ve realized in Paraguay where I was so fulfilled with emotions, friendship, love, warm chats etc, was that most of the people live without fancy things, where sometimes basics things become a luxury, and humans can live well with only a few things, more than that are just things to feel voids, to get a instant compensation or to somehow satisfied the ego.
I wonder if things are voids of the soul?
I didn’t buy stuff, I didn’t want to, I had all what I wanted and nothing of it was material, I’m glad I have the basics and beyond that, I’m very thankful about my life, but I certainly don’t want the greed of having more and more become part of my life.
So now when people ask me what have a brought from Paraguay I answer: a huge bag full of great experiences, a suitcase of emotions and a little pocket of wisdom.
