What a beautiful page of dispatches from the real world.... the one most people would never dream exists. Have been admiring the Mennonites and Dukhobors since "Letters to Jessica" hit me 20 years ago. Am planning an escape of some kind from the usa and will plan to visit Paraguay even though friends insist Chile is the only hope. It appears the most financially/politically stable country among the affordable ones, but the times are volatile.

Very well written! Where did you get so much info on us Mennonites? Can I use some of it for my blog??
Also the post on where Paraguay is, is very well written.
If you permit it, I will be using some of it for a future post.

I was on the long bus ride between Santa Cruz and Asuncion (both up and back) along the Ruta Trans Chaco in 2006. Each trip took 24 hours. The dust gets into the bus and the countryside was very lonely, but it was a very interesting trip.
