Asuncion and nearby cities Museums
Among Asuncion’s attractions are Museums and Cultural Centers, I will mention the most important.
Casa de la Independencia: It’s the house where the conspiration of the Independence Revolution (15/05/1811) took place. The architecture is colonial and was build around 1772, nowadays it works as a Museum of documentary and historical nature, with colonial furniture, personal items, religious sacred art and portraits. It has been restored in 2004. (located in downtown Asuncion, 14 de Mayo y Presidente Franco).
Museo Arqueologico y Etnografico Guido Boggiani: Located in San Lorenzo (very close to Asuncion). The collection is composed of items from the linguistic families Guarani and Zamuko and it was named after an italian researcher, ethnographer and artist who left a legacy of the indigenous culture of the Paraguayan Chaco. (Address: Cnel. Bogado 888 Casi Saturio- San Lorenzo)
Centro Cultural de la Republica- Cabildo: Located in the old Town Hall and opened as a museum in 2004, it has several rooms, some intended for temporary exhibitions and event presentations, and others for popular indigenous and sacred art exhibitions organized by the Museo del Barro, the Guido Boggiani and the Juan de Salazar Museum, there is also a Museum of Music, film museum and video Museum, in the upper level. The interesting thing is that it has a store where original pieces of popular ceramics, fabrics, masks, books and art can be purchased (and they are awesome). (Address: Grabadores del Cabichui entre Emeterio Miranda y Canada, Isla de Francia).
Centro Cultural de la Ciudad- Manzana de la Rivera: Very interesting location opposite the Government Palace is the cultural Center that groups 9 houses that share similar styles and some where remodeled:
